St. Conor’s celebrate Shield Success at Healy Park

24th Apr 2026

The annual Anne Kelly Cup and Henry McKinney Shield Primary Schools’ Tournament was proudly hosted by Christ the King Primary School and took place on Friday 24 April at a sun‑kissed Healy Park. The event brought together 12 local primary schools, with 14 teams competing and over 100 boys taking part in a fantastic day of football.

St. Conor’s Primary School was well represented on the day by two teams, both of whom displayed great tenacity, skill and a never‑say‑die attitude throughout the tournament.

Team 1 topped their group to progress to the Anne Kelly Cup quarter‑finals, where they were narrowly defeated by a skilful and determined St. Ronan’s Recarson side, despite producing a gutsy and committed performance.

Team 2 advanced to the Henry McKinney Shield knock‑out stages, overcoming Omagh Integrated Primary School before defeating Sacred Heart, Tattyreagh to book their place in the final. In a titanic contest that went all the way to extra time, St. Conor’s showed tremendous resilience and character to secure a well‑deserved victory over a brilliant and courageous Gaelscoil Na gCrann team.

Huge congratulations go to both St. Conor’s teams, who represented our school brilliantly both on and off the pitch.

A massive thank you to Christ the King Primary School for hosting a terrific tournament and to all the volunteers and referees whose efforts ensured a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable day’s football for everyone involved.
