Year 5 recently visited the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum as part of their World Around Us topic on Ancient Egypt. They had an opportunity to do the Flax to Fabric tour where they learnt about the history of linen from the Ancient Egyptians through to the period of the cottage industry. They watched skilled crafts people spin yarn and weave on traditional looms. Pupils also had the opportunity to make clay models.
