Year 6 Visit to Enniskillen Castle
As part of our World Around Us topic, “The Vikings – Raiders or Traders?”, Year Six enjoyed a fascinating trip to the museum at Enniskillen Castle.
The pupils took part in a carousel of activities that brought Viking life to the classroom learning. First, they explored a Viking longhouse, discovering more about food, clothing and the social hierarchy of the time.
Next, they became archaeologists for the day, carefully unearthing Viking artefacts and learning about the people who once owned them.
Finally, the children designed and created their own brooches in authentic Viking style.
The boys and girls had a fantastic day, gaining a real insight into many aspects of Viking life. A huge thank you to Catherine, Julian, Martina and all the staff at Enniskillen Castle for making the visit so enjoyable and memorable.
