LITERACY

Talking and Listening:

  • Share a story together each day
  • Recite 2 nursery rhymes and sing the ‘days of the week’ song and talk about the date.
  • Go on a spring walk and talk about signs of spring. Collect nature items on your walk and create a ‘Spring Picture’ using items you have collected. Describe your picture. (See attached Spring activities presentation for ideas) We would love to see images of your spring pictures!

Phonics:

  • CVC Read the words and match the picture to the word (Worksheets in Pack 2 – Phase 1, sets 1, 2 and 3) Remember to listen for the initial-middle-end sounds)
  • Practise Jolly Phonics taught to date

Tricky Words/Key Words:

Suggested activities for tricky words

Practise tricky words - chalk, (indoor and outdoor) water and a paintbrush, trace in shaving foam/bubbles/tray of lentils/paint. Remember correct letter formation.

  • Balloons Tricky Word Colouring - Worksheet included in ‘Pack 2’
  • Play a tricky word game.

Go to MY-ON 'Library' and search for 'I See Spring' and 'The Busy Spring.'

 Writing

  • Write your name and practise correct letter formation.
  • Look, say and write (he, she, we, me)
  • Put in a word and copy the sentence – ‘He has a cat and a dog.’ Worksheet included in ‘Pack 2’

 

NUMBER 

Mental Maths

  • Orally count forwards to 20 and count backwards from 10
  • Mental Maths recall of number before/after/1 more within 11

Recognise and recall the numbers 0-11

  • Form the numbers 0-11 correctly
  • Use the number line to recognise numbers within 11
  • Complete 4 worksheets in Pack 2 (Colour and cut sets of 11, How Many (x2) within 11, addition within 11

SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES FOR NUMBER 11

  • Make a book - cut 11 toys from an old catalogue, cut 11 food items from the local shop flyer
  • See ‘Counting and Learning to 20’ attached document for ideas.  Complete activities for numbers to 11
  • Practise correct formation of numbers to 11 - chalk, (indoor and outdoor) water and a paintbrush, trace in shaving foam/bubbles/tray of lentils/paint, 

*Repeat suggested activities in the coming weeks from numbers 12, 13 etc. 

WEIGHT

  • Recognise HEAVY and LIGHT.
  • Complete 2 worksheets in Pack 2 (Colour the heavy objects/ring the light objects)
  • Can you find various objects around your home? Remember the language of volume ‘heavy’ and ‘light.’ Label the objects ‘heavy’ or ‘light.’

MATHLETICS - remember to log on and complete some of the activities.

WORLD AROUND US ‘SPRING’

Children are encouraged to go on a Spring walk and look for signs of Spring.

Just for FUN!

We challenge you to ‘mail a hug’ to someone you cannot visit e.g. grandparent, cousins, aunt, uncle. You could use a large piece of drawing paper or a roll of wall paper. Please see attached ‘mail a hug’ for more information.
