St Conor's Primary School, Omagh


St Conor’s Nursery Unit caters for 52 children on a part-time basis and is housed in a separate, self-contained building adjacent to the school.
Twenty six children attend the morning session from 9.15am-11.30am and twenty six children attend the afternoon session from 12.30pm-3.00pm.There is a full-time teacher in-charge of the unit and she is assisted by a full-time Nursery assistant.  The Unit is an integral part of the main school and maintains close links with the school. The Nursery Unit has been specially adapted to cater for children with Special Needs.

Nursery Aims


The aim of St Conor’s Nursery is to:

  •  provide a welcoming, caring and secure environment for children, parents and staff. 
  • provide quality learning experiences for each child taking account of individual needs, local and national curriculum guidelines.
  • nurture feelings and encourage respect for self and others and develop confidence and self-esteem.
  • develop positive attitudes towards the environment.
  • provide opportunities to involve parents and the wider community in the life of the Nursery.

Daily Routine


  • 9.00am-10.15am                  FREE PLAY

(Children are encouraged to make their own choices about play and which area they would like to play at. Adults encourage settled, productive play and monitor those who are ‘flighty’)


  • 10.15am-10.50am                OUTDOOR PLAY

(Children can go inside or outside. We encourage children to play in all weather conditions and provide umbrellas for small groups)


  • 10.50am-11.00am                TIDY UP TIME


  • 11.00am-11.15am                STORY AND RHYME TIME


  • 11.15am-11.25am                TOOTH BRUSHING (Mon-Wed), MUSIC/CIRCLE TIME (Thurs)


  • 11.25am-11.30am                PREPARATION FOR HOME TIME


This is repeated for the afternoon session - 12.30pm-3.00pm.
