WORLD AROUND US

PETS

We invite the children to share a photograph of their pet or a picture/toy of an animal they would like for a pet. You can also share a photograph of a pet belonging to a member of your extended family.

You can choose your favourite pet and paint it with special attention to the colour, pattern, number of legs, etc. An adult can help you sound out the name of the pet or write a sentence about the pet.

Parents can access both Dublin and Belfast Zoo on Instagram for live videos of the different animals and feeding times. Try and name as many animals together. Talk about the difference between pets and wild animals.

We encourage you to sing ‘Old McDonald’ with your children and try and name as many pets as you can when you are reciting the rhyme.
