Y2 Proposed Learning Schedule for Week beginning 18/05/2020

Numeracy

Mental Maths

Revise quick recall of facts up to 11- 17. Continue to ask facts using language of addition and subtraction e.g. 11 and ?? makes 15.  Relate the number facts to real life examples.

Count on/back within 100. Ask questions like number before/after/between/ 2 more than/10 less than etc. play a simple Bingo game at home.

Use the 100 square grid to fill in the numbers from 1-100

Count up in 2s to 20      10s to 100        5s to 100

Number stories 16-20

Complete number story for 19.

Look at how we can add in different forms e.g. 7 + __ = 19 and vertical addition.

Use materials to help you with your number facts. Doubles,Think of part, part, whole. (see resources in this folder for template)

Use the number line to add on and take away within 19. Remember to start with the bigger number and count on. Also use your knowledge of doubles to add.

Subtraction within 20 workbook

Complete some activities from the workbook – see stories for 19.

Use the NHM check-up book for reinforcing addition and subtraction facts.

Mathletics:

  • use the number activities to reinforce your learning on number facts, counting within 50 and 100.
  • use the  measuring activities to reinforce the language of weight (heavier/lighter)

First Mental Arithmetic Book – complete 1 page per day.

Pick 2 activities from the Fun Learning book. 

Literacy

Reading

Remember to look at the Project section on MyON andread some books on the topic of People Who Help Us. Check in the Year 2 Website folder for how to access Projects on MyON.

Writing

Write about the Picture Workbook. Choose 2 pages this week.

Remember to: - talk to your child about each picture.

Write a few creative sentences about the picture.

Let the children have a go sounding out or using word knowledge to record their work.

Use the word bank as support.

Tricky words this week are four and goes see Tricky Word Book Summer 1 Use the appropriate pages in your workbook. Write sentences for the words.

Use your phonics workbook to sound out and build words with the ay /ai sound.

Complete the tasks set in the People Who Help Us workbook about Florence Nightingale.  What do you want to be when you grow up? Use the workbook pages to think, draw and write about who you want to be and why. Remember to write a few sentences about what you would be doing in your job and why you would enjoy it.

Religion- Continue to light a candle each evening, and say 1 Hail Mary for the people who work in your community. Look at The Acts Of Kindness in the folder below and pick one each day to do at home.
