Yr 2 Proposed Learning Schedule for Week beginning 15/06/2020
Numeracy
Mental Maths
• Practice quick recall of facts up to 20. Continue to ask facts using language of addition and subtraction. • Call out numbers within 100 for your child to record. Make it into a bingo game for all the family. • Use the 100 square below to locate numbers from 1-100 eg find 36.... count on 1, count back 3 etc. • While out and about, count in 2s, 5s and 10s. start with forward counting and then try counting backwards within 100.
My Tens and Units booklet
• You can see from the pictures on the worksheets that the children need to physically make one ten with, for example,16 objects. then it becomes one Ten and six units (or ones) • Complete pages 8-12 in the booklet this week to consolidate tens and ones and making teen numbers.Continue to use practical materials if necessary, when completing the worksheets.
Capacity booklet
Use the Capacity booklet to investigate floating and sinking. Talk to your child about why some things float and some sink. Complete the remaining pages in the booklet on how much does it hold? Use language such as full, half full, empty and which holds the most to reinforce the children with the language of capacity.
Mathletics:
• use the number activities to reinforce your learning on number facts, counting within 50 and 100.
Maths Revision Booklet
• construct a 100 square by cutting up the strips on page 1 and assembling the 100 square. • Complete 1 2D and 3D shapes and 1 Tell the Time worksheet this week.
First Mental Arithmetic Book 3 – complete 1 page per day
Literacy
Reading
Remember to look at the Project section on MyON and read some books on the topic of Summer. Check in the Year 2 Website folder for how to access Projects on MyON.
Writing
Summer Activity Booklet Workbook-
• complete the Reading a Summer Picture worksheet. Look at the picture and talk to your child about the fun taking place. Complete the 3 questions about the picture. Write in full sentences remembering to use capital letters and full stops. • Use the lined writing page to write your own summer picture.
It could be about some signs of summer or it could be about a fun summer’s day where you write about somewhere you went or something you did on a warm summer’s day.
Talk to the children about: -
• Where they went? • What they did? • Who was with them? • What they saw? • Something fun that happened. Pick at least 2 things e.g. went for a picnic or had a water fight. Encourage the children to use time connectives e.g. first, then, after that.
You may think of other questions to ask in relation to a summer’s day.
Write about the picture booklet
Complete one page this week.
Encourage the children to write a story about the picture. Encourage them to use their imagination and use connectives like first, then, after that, later etc.
Let the children have a go sounding out or using the word knowledge to read their work. Tell them words they may not know.
Tricky Words (from previous home/school pack)
• Tricky words this week are of, love and cover– see Tricky Word Book Summer 1 • Use the appropriate pages in your workbook. Write sentences for the words.

I can read phase 4 ccv and ccvc words, word and picture matching.
